Marvel Studios are once again celebrating as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has opened to the tune of $145m at the US box office. The film has grossed an average $33,368 in each of the 4,347 cinemas in which it was shown putting it 54% higher than the opening of the first film.
Internationally the film is continuing to play well taking an estimated $124m in its second weekend. This takes its international total to $238m for a worldwide total of $428m after 13 days of release.
