Rogue Sun #7 is published by Image Comics, written by Ryan Parrott and Nick Cotton, illustrated by Zè Carlos and Raul Angulo.

Issue #7 is available 5th October 2022 either directly from Image Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

After the shocking ending to his fight with Cataclysm, Dylan has no idea what to do next—but luckily, he has YOU to help! In this very special issue, you make the decisions and choose Dylan’s path in a fight against an enemy who controls time itself!

    Review

In this special issue we catch up with Dylan in what could well be his toughest test yet going one on one with the overpowering sea monster Lord Viathan, that in itself would be hard to over come but something or even someone turns up to add to the complication. This being goes by the name of Ornate , having the power to control time and space by the look of things and being able to get into Dylan’s mind makes Ornate possibly the biggest of threats to Rogue Sun but Dylan doesn’t have control in this book as this is a choose-your-own-adventure title which allows you to hold the cards and basically pick Dylan’s destiny, how will it pan out well that’s down to you?

I’ve have been a fan of Ryan Parrott’s work for a while now and having him partner with another talented writer in Nick Cotton has been a masterstroke as the series was turned up another notch. From the beginning I’ve enjoyed the character of Dylan and how he became a superhero without actually wanting to be one and how he has grown to embrace the mantra and take it forward, but the key aspect of this book is the choose-your-own-adventure concept which literally blew my mind getting to take the direction of the story in the way I wanted it to go. It did take some doing to navigate through the choices and few will take you into an infinite spiral but overall I found this concept really worked in comic format and added more immersion to the series as a whole.

As always the illustrations were top level and with Zè Carlos and Raul Angulo teaming up together both using their artistic talents to create some real eye popping visuals, I personally thought the fight scenes at see were some of the best visuals I’ve seen in comics, adding more in depth tension to the action unfolding on the pages.

    Verdict

A story arc that was good by itself has now got ten times better with this issue, at this point I would say a 5⭐️ score doesn’t really come close this series definitely deserves all the recognition coming it’s way and we’re not done yet.
