October is right around the corner and that can only mean one thing: spooky season is upon us! Where better to start your Halloween watch list than with the home of horror, thrillers and the supernatural, Shudder.

The self-proclaimed Home of Halloween has a huge slate of original and exclusive films and series set to debut in the run up to October 31 and we’ve got you covered with our monthly guide.

Here’s a look at the original and exclusive films set to debut in October:

    Deadstream – A Shudder Original
    Premieres Thursday 6th October

A disgraced and demonetised Internet personality (Joseph Winter) tries to win back his fans by live streaming himself, spending a night alone in an abandoned haunted house. However, when he accidentally unleashes a vengeful spirit, his big comeback event becomes a real-time fight for his life (and social relevance) as he faces off with the sinister spirit of the house and her powerful following. Deadstream stars Joseph Winter, who wrote and directed the film with Vanessa Winter.

Dario Argento’s Dark Glasses – A Shudder Original
    Premieres Thursday 13th October

Rome. An eclipse blocks out the sun, blackening the skies on a hot summer day – harbinger of the darkness that will envelop Diana when a serial killer chooses her as prey. Fleeing her predator, the young escort crashes her car and loses her sight. She emerges from the initial shock determined to fight for her life, but she is no longer alone. Defending her and acting as her eyes is a little boy, Chin, who survived the car accident. But the killer won’t give up his victim. Who will be saved? A triumphant return from Italian master of horror, director Dario Argento. Starring Ilenia Pastorelli and Asia Argento.

    V/H/S/99 – A Shudder Original
    Premieres Thursday 20th October

V/H/S/99 marks the return of the acclaimed found footage anthology franchise and the sequel to Shudder’s most-watched premiere of 2021. A thirsty teenager’s home video leads to a series of horrifying revelations. Featuring five new stories from filmmakersMaggie Levin (Into The Dark: My Valentine), Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City), Flying Lotus (Kuso), Tyler MacIntyre (Tragedy Girls) and Joseph & Vanessa Winter (Deadstream), V/H/S/99 harkens back to the final punk rock analogue days of VHS, while taking one giant leap forward into the hellish new millennium.

Next up, there are some awesome exclusive series and special that will drop just in time for All Hallows Eve:

The 101 Scariest Horror Movie Moments of All Time
Continues with new episodes Wednesdays; Series Finale 26th October

Master filmmakers and genre experts celebrate and dissect the most terrifying moments of the greatest horror films ever made, exploring how these scenes were created and why they burned themselves into the brains of audiences around the world. Featuring clips from Jaws, The Exorcist, Psycho, The Shining, It Follows, The Witch, Get Out and many other films.

Queer for Fear: The History of Queer Horror
Continues with new episodes Fridays; Series Finale 21st October

Queer for Fear is a four-part documentary series about the history of the LGBTQ+ community in the horror and thriller genres. From its literary origins with queer authors Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, and Oscar Wilde to the pansy craze of the 1920s that influenced Universal Monsters and Hitchcock, through the “lavender scare” alien invasion films of the mid-20th century and the AIDS obsessed bloodletting of 80s vampire films, Queer for Fear re-examines genre stories through a queer lens, seeing them not as violent, murderous narratives, but as tales of survival that resonate thematically with queer audiences everywhere.

    The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans
Premieres Tuesday 25th October; new episodes weekly

Hosted and created by the Boulet Brothers, The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans is a ten-episode spin-off series starring some of the most popular drag icons from the show’s previous seasons competing in a grand championship of drag artistry and shocking physical challenges for a one hundred-thousand-dollar grand prize, the headlining spot on the upcoming world tour and the first ever “Dragula Titans” crown and title. Guest judges include Elvira, Harvey Guillen, Justin Simien, David Dastmalchian, Poppy, Alaska, Katya, Joe Bob Briggs, Bonnie Aarons, Barbara Crampton, and more to be announced soon.

    Mad God Ghoul Log
    Premieres Saturday 1st October

The “Ghoul Log” is Halloween’s answer to the Christmas Yule Log: a 24/7 streaming jack-o’-lantern providing the perfect ambience for all your Halloween festivities. Fan favorites The Ghoul Log, Return of the Ghoul Log and Night of the Ghoul Log are back, along with a very special new edition inspired by Phil Tippett’s Mad God, hand-crafted by the team at Tippett Studios.

There are also plenty of legacy horror movies coming to the library across the month:

    1st October

    Cold Skin

A young man comes to a desolate island to take up the lighthouse post of weather observer. But he finds no trace of the man he has been sent to replace, just a deranged brute who has witnessed a horror he refuses to name. When nightly invasions of unknown creatures emerge in the dark from the ocean, he realizes that something else entirely lurks on this island.

    3rd October

    The Collingswood Story

Young couple Rebecca and John attempt to keep their long-distance relationship alive via video chatting. However, a chance encounter with an online psychic plunges their lives into a world of nightmarish supernatural phenomenon.

    The Ninth Configuration

A troubled psychiatrist takes command of a military asylum filled with insane soldiers in this creepy only-in-the-’70s oddity written and directed by William Peter Blatty (The Exorcist). When Kane arrives at an army castle to cure the inhabitants, he bonds with an astronaut who snapped before a mission. But as the two men examine their demons, it becomes clear Kane may be more in need of help than his patients. Blatty’s unsettling mix of psychological horror and Altman-meets-Joseph Heller-esque comedy has fascinated die-hard cult cinema fans since its release in 1980.

    The Diabolical

When a single mother (Ali Larter) and her two young children are tormented by an increasingly strange and intense presence in their quiet suburban home, she turns to her scientist boyfriend to take on the violent forces that paranormal experts are too frightened to face.

    10th October

    Discopath

A timid man becomes a serial killer after hearing disco music for the first time in this tongue-in-cheek low-budget horror film. Traumatized by the pulsating beat as a child, Duane finds himself surrounded by the boogie-oogie-oogie in disco-happy 1976. After a tune makes him Super Freak-out on one innocent victim, he hightails it to Montreal, where rock and roll is dead, then picks up where he left off. Who’ll be the next victim and who’ll wind up stayin’ alive? One thing’s for certain. You’ve probably never thought records could be murder weapons before.

    Stage Fright

Stage Fright tells the story of a snobby musical theater camp terrorized by a blood-thirsty masked killer who despises musical theatre. “Scream” meets “Glee” in this genre-bending R-rated horror-musical.

    11th October

The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula Season 1

The Boulet Brothers host a competition of drag performers who don’t just push the envelope – they chew it up and spit it out. With themes such as ‘Zombie’ and challenges including being buried alive, this ain’t your momma’s drag competition. Joining seasons 2, 3 and 4 and ahead of the upcoming Titans spin-off exclusively on Shudder, revisit the first season of the Boulet Brothers’ beloved groundbreaking drag-horror competition.

    17th October

    Lovely Molly

A former addict begins to have strange episodes after moving into her childhood home in this relentlessly disturbing ghost story from Blair Witch Project director Eduardo Sanchez. But where that film relied on off-screen atmosphere to create dread, here Sanchez serves plenty of on-screen scares, resulting in a film that follows in the footsteps of graphic shockers like The Entity. Richly exploring the parallels between psychosis, addiction and demonic possession, Lovely Molly is a gripping look at how the traumas of the past come back to haunt us.

    The Changeling

Consumed by grief, a New York composer moves to a secluded Victorian mansion. There he finds himself haunted by a paranormal entity that may unleash an even more disturbing secret. Peter Medak’s acclaimed and celebrated The Changelingis quite simply, one of the great haunted house films.

    21st October

    Let’s Scare Julie

Everyone loves a good scare … but when a group of teen girls sets out to scare their reclusive new neighbor, what seems like a simple prank goes horribly wrong … and not all of them will make it home in Let’s Scare Julie, a white-knuckle thriller filmed in one uninterrupted, terrifying take.

    24th October

    High Tension

Hoping to prepare for their college exams in peace and quiet, best friends Marie and Alexia decide to spend a weekend in the country at Alexia’s parents’ secluded farmhouse. But in the dead of the night, a stranger knocks on the front door. And with the first swing of his knife, the girls’ idyllic weekend turns into an endless night of horror… This vicious, divisive neo-slasher introduced audiences to Alexandre Aja and helped usher in a highly praised new wave of French terror that brought us the likes of Inside and Martyrs in the mid-2000s.

    Frontier(s)

In the ultra-gory French shocker that put director Xavier Gens (The Divide) on the map, a gang of bank robbers wind up locked in a vicious battle for survival after hiding out at an inn that’s run by a psychotic neo-nazi family. Once the clan’s intentions become clear, the blindsided crooks must do all they can to fight back and escape, even if it means going to the police.
