DC vs Vampires Coffin Edition is published by DC Comics, written by James Tynion IV and Matthew Rosenberg, illustrated by Otto Schmidt.
The Coffin Edition is available from 12th July 2022 either directly from DC Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers. The Coffin Edition collects issues #1-#3 of the DC vs Vampires ongoing series.
Synopsis

Review
As a die-hard superhero fan, I enjoy everything the genre has to show. But I’m always intrigued when there’s something new to bring to the table. DC is always evolving and bringing diverse content to the market. So to see them trying something different isn’t a huge surprise. What is a huge surprise is just how excellent DC vs Vampires is with its vibrant and intense opening gambit.
With the whole world ravaged by vampires, it’s once again down to our favourite DC Universe heroes to save the day. But what happens when the outbreak doesn’t just effect the normal humans of the world? Super strength vampires pose an even more dangerous threat. But what if the threat is actually closer than the League would care to imagine? The thought that one of your own might be a vampire arouses all kinds of suspicions. James Tynion IV and Matthew Rosenberg write some excellent strains in the friendships with the group posed by this impending threat.
Through all three issues I was hooked. Tynion and Rosenberg combine their styles to create a raw, emotional story that unravels the very nucleus of the DCU. As an alternate-universe story it works really well. The DCU we all know and love still exists, it’s just buried under an extra level of horror which spices up proceedings. Seeing much loved characters depicted in a different way is truly awe inspiring and this is definitely a series I’m looking forward to see more from.
The art style from Otto Schmidt is distinctly DC. It’s dark and immersive. Being a series based on the underworld and the un-dead the art style revolves around that theme bringing dark but vibrant colours with striking illustrations that will keep you intrigued throughout.
Verdict
A blockbuster new series and one to watch for 2022. After only three issues I can definitely say I want more. The mix of traditional DC storytelling and horror elements is too compelling to put down.
