    ZODIAC VS DEATHFORCE Review

Zodiac vs Deathforce is published by Zenescope, written by Jay Sandlin, illustrated by Alessandro Uezu Babisu Kourtis and Gabriel Rearte, coloured by Jorge Cortez and Walter Pereya and lettered by Carlos M Mangual.

Zodiac vs Deathforce is available now from your local comic book shops. You can also download a digital copy from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

Two of the Grimm Universes most dangerous antiheroes face each other for the first time ever in a life or death battle, neither knowing they are just pawns in a bigger game. Who is the puppet master behind the scenes pulling their strings?

    Review

I have been lucky enough to read a few comics now from writer Jay Sandlin and I’ll say I’ve never been disappointed he certainly knows how to write an eye catching story and Zodiac vs Deathforce seems to keep up with that trend.

From the start Sandlin sets the tone of the book with an awesome few pages straight from an action film you kind of get the idea what sort of comic you getting straight away, we are first introduced to Zodiac, a Power Ranger style character that wants to rid the earth of all the dealers and druggies one at a time, being a big Power Rangers fan I really liked the styling of this character bringing the Rangers flavour to proceedings.

What starts off as a slightly predictable storyline in “girl gets kidnapped hero rescues” gets flipped completely sideways when another realm becomes part of the story.

Zodiac being an ex assassin is drawn back into that life when a young girl, known as The Offspring, he promised to protect gets taken back to Wonderland causing all hell to break lose as he tries with all his might to keep his promise to protect her, an unlikely partnership is formed with Deathforce making an unbeatable team, or are they? The adventure takes a wild turn as they uncover the real truth and who actually is pulling the strings.

Sandlin has once again outdone himself bringing a story that takes you on a ride of emotions with action at every turn, I literally didn’t want to put it down. The illustrations from Uezu,Kourtis and Rearte were immensely detailed and really bought the words on the page to life.

    Verdict

A great one shot book if you like the darker side of superheroes, fully recommended. I personally can’t wait to delve deeper into the Grimm Universe and see what else is instore.
