The Many Deaths of Laila Starr #3 is published by BOOM! Studios, written by Ram V, illustrated by Filipe Andrade, lettered by AndWorld Design.

The latest issue of The Many Deaths of Laila Starr is available now in print and on digital where all good comics are sold. Grab your digital copy from Comixology right here.

    Synopsis

More years have passed when Laila Starr, the now-mortal reincarnation of the avatar of Death, once again crosses paths with the future creator of immortality — this time at a party where the young man will have a life-altering experience that will shape him for years to come. Will Laila change his path in this one night, or the other way around?

    Review

Many Deaths is a series that has surprised me from the start. It’s not the type of series that I typically read. However for that reason it is also perfect as it is, indeed, so different to everything I’ve previously read. Ram V has once again brought us a meaningful story with a comedic undertone, again pulling me deeper into the story arc of Miss Laila Starr.

This next chapter in the story looks more into Starr as a few years have passes and she has been living as a mortal. Ram V takes the story on as we see Starr going through her day with a group of work colleagues or friends getting up to normal daily antics, it’s not until later in the story where we find out one of the group actually means more to the story than we first thought.

I personally love the way Ram V writes the story as if you are going along a comfortable journey then all of a sudden you take a sharp left off the track and your journey completely changes, you are constantly questioning what you are reading.

This time Andrade has gone for a more psychedelic feel to the illustrations making you feel like youvare delving deeper into the mind of Starr and living out through her eyes. The colours used are of an equal “trippy” nature with more bright colours used definitely a symphony for the eyes.

    Verdict

Once again Ram V has come up with a captivating story that is told in a relaxed way. Partnered that with the expert illustrations off Andrade and you’ve definitely got a winner. I am looking forward to the next issue to see where this story arc is going next.
