Deadline is reporting that Batwoman season 2 has found the first of its villains. Dominion actor Shivaani Ghai has been booked to take on a recurring role as the series gets back to work on new episodes.
The rumours is that Ghai will be portraying Safiyah Sohail, a pirate who was romantically linked to Kate Kane’s Batwoman in the comics.
Of course with Ruby Rose out of the picture, this version of the character is likely to be more of a foil that a romantic interest for Javicia Leslie’s Ryan Wilder.
Ghai’s take on the character has been described as “the fiercely protective ruler of a small community on the island of Coryana. A woman with as many enemies as aliases, she is compassionate and charismatic with both physical and psychological prowess. She is beloved by her people and will stop at nothing to protect what’s hers. No one goes unnoticed by Safiyah, specifically when it comes to those who have encountered the Desert Rose.”
Coryaya has been teased a number of times in the show so far. Being the source of the poison which Alice (Rachel Skartsten) used to kill Catherine Hamilton.
