Huge news broke overnight from ‘The Flash’ camp last night. Using his Instagram Grant Gustin, shortly followed by an official release, posted the first photo of actor Keiynan Lonsdale in costume as Kid Flash. Check out both official photos in the gallery below!
Lonsdale joined the cast of ‘The Flash’ in season 2 as Wally West, estranged son of Joe West and brother to Iris. His previous credits include both the ‘Insurgent’ and ‘Allegiant’ films in the ‘Divergent’ series.
In the twentieth episode of ‘The Flash’ season two, entitled ‘Rupture’, West and Jesse Wells were hit by a blast from S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator. Many presumed the story would develop to see both transforming in to speedsters Kid Flash and Jesse Quick. The writers have been coy in committing to either of the characters developing powers in the near future but now we know that Kid Flash will be appearing sooner than we thought!
The move to release official photos so fast was seemingly to prevent fans from discovering the plot via set photos. Following the release of the below two photographs set photos emerged of Lonsdale in costume alongside Grant Gustin as Barry Allen and another costumed Speedster dressed all in black. No, the black speedster was not Zoom, the villain from season two. It in fact is a new character whose appearance is very similar to Black Racer from the ‘Darkseid War’ arc of ‘Justice League’ comics.
