Daredevil #3 is available now where all good comics are sold!

    Synopsis

    CLASSIFIED! (genuine synopsis from Comixology!)

    Review

It’s been clear from the outset that Daredevil has been building towards something. Up until the conclusion of the previous issue I wasn’t quite sure what that was but now it’s clear.

Daredevil needed a little injection of adrenaline to kick start the storytelling and what better way to do it than with an appearance by The Punisher! Of course he’s saved for the final page but the next issue could be mind blowing given what happens here.

Issue #3 is an interesting mix of the first two issues. We dispense with some of the world building but don’t entirely detract from the character development to continue with the action.

I’m impressed with how the series has dealt with a lack of a villain. Rather than setting up Wilson Fisk or perhaps bringing back Bullseye or any one of Daredevil’s pantheon of villains to setup Detective North as the villain figure has given the series a new edge.

It’s even arguable that Daredevil is the villain of his own book.

He’s charging around New York with a working knowledge which is entirely outdated. He hasn’t taken more than a moment to try and understand his new surroundings and now he’s paying the price.

My only lingering question at the end of this issue, which is probably how it was written anyway, is what Frank Castle could be doing looking out for Daredevil. We’ll have to wait for the next issue to find out!

    Verdict

With this issue Daredevil toys with its readers, taking the story in multiple directions before building to an exciting conclusion. As Daredevil cements itself as a compelling new series a certain cameo will definitely have fans clamouring for the next issue.

    6/10

Daredevil #3 is written by Chip Zdarsky with art by Marco Checchetto and a cover by Julian Totino Tedesco.
