Just in time for the Halloween season, Indonesian genre legend Joko Anwar (Satan’s Slaves, Impetigore) returns with one of the wildest cinematic mashups of the year. Following celebrated festival screenings—including its North American premiere at Fantastic Fest—the bloody, pitch-black prison comedy-horror Ghost in the Cell is officially heading to digital platforms across the UK on October 26, 2026 from Blue Finch Film Releasing.
The story follows Dimas, an investigative journalist framed and thrown into a notoriously violent, corrupt penitentiary. When a bloodthirsty supernatural entity begins tearing through the cell blocks—specifically hunting anyone radiating anger or negative energy—survival takes an unexpected turn. Hardened criminals and corrupt guards are forced to drop their weapons and desperately cling to meditation, prayers, and positive vibes to avoid being ripped apart.

Blending relentless practical gore with razor-sharp satire and laugh-out-loud comedy, Anwar aims to reinvent the haunted-house formula within the claustrophobic walls of a prison lockdown.
The fim stars Endy Arfian, Abimana Aryasatya, Aming Sugandhi and Yoga Pratama.
Whether you’re a longtime fan of Southeast Asian horror or simply hunting for an unhinged, high-octane thrill ride to anchor your spooky season marathon, Ghost in the Cell delivers in spades.
Ghost in the Cell drops on digital platforms in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand on 26 October 2026.
