Black Bear UK has unveiled the final trailer for LAIKA’s highly anticipated sixth stop-motion feature Wildwood. The film is set to release in UK cinemas on October 23, 2026.
Directed and produced by Travis Knight and written by Chris Butler, the project is an adaptation of the acclaimed novel penned by Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis. True to LAIKA’s signature cinematic approach, Wildwood brings an expansive fantasy world to the screen through meticulous handcrafted stop-motion filmmaking. Every character, environment, and intricate physical detail was animated frame by frame to bring this fantastical story to life.

The final trailer provides audiences with their most comprehensive look yet at the escalating stakes of headstrong teenager Prue McKeel’s quest to save her family. Following the sudden abduction of her baby brother by a murder of crows, Prue, voiced by Peyton Elizabeth Lee, launches a desperate rescue mission into the Impassable Wilderness. This enchanted forest remains entirely hidden just beyond the borders of Portland, Oregon. Accompanied by her hapless but fiercely loyal classmate Curtis Mehlberg, played by Jacob Tremblay, Prue is thrown into this strange hidden world. The pair must navigate a landscape filled with talking animals, roaming bandits, and powerful figures driven by personal grief and ambition. As the young heroes get swept into a larger conflict threatening the delicate balance of the wilderness, Prue must confront dark forces to bring her brother home and determine the forest’s ultimate future.
Wildwood features a massive, star-studded ensemble cast supporting Lee and Tremblay. The impressive voice roster includes acclaimed actors Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Awkwafina, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amandla Stenberg, Jemaine Clement, Maya Erskine, Tantoo Cardinal, Tom Waits, and Richard E. Grant.
Wildwood, will hold its world premiere at the 70th BFI London Film Festival on October 11, 2026, before securing a wider release in UK cinemas on the October 23.
