    Synopsis

HOUSE HUNTERS! Jed MacKay and Devmalya Praminik continue their senses-shattering and fan-favorite saga, as the MIDNIGHT SONS make their presence known! With MOON KNIGHT’S closest allies, the Midnight Mission, ensnared in the gullet of an interdimensional relative of their living headquarters, Marc calls on CLEA, BLADE, GHOST RIDER and DAREDEVIL to form a new incarnation of Marvel’s occult operator

    Review

The price of victory is high, and Jed MacKay reveals the lengths Moon Knight goes to rescue his family from Mansion Ravenous. But can anyone really trust Moon Knight?

Although the character of Moon Knight has intrigued me, it has taken me a while to properly plunge into his world until now. Fortunately, MacKay’s new run has been the perfect springboard, with compelling storytelling paired with truly phenomenal art. As a result, Marc Spector: Moon Knight is, without question, one of Marvel’s most refreshing books, neck and neck with Daredevil by Phillips and Garbett.

MacKay’s decision to bring in a new version of the Sons of Midnight in the previous issues, especially Blade and Daredevil, was a genius move. Daredevil is the reason I gave this new series my attention. It paid off! The hope is that readers of those characters who might not have otherwise picked up this series will do so and fall for it—same as I have. After all, you will learn this is a treat.

Right from the opening page, Issue #7 hooks you with a spectacular panel of Ghost Rider’s car blazing through Mansion Ravenous. It delivers a stunning psychedelic horror moment as pictures fly off the walls in a swirl of fire and technicolour.

Meanwhile, Devmalya Pramanik and Rachelle Rosenberg (art and colours, respectively) have quickly become two of my favourites at Marvel. From the page layouts to the individual panels, the art is supercharged with style and flair. In fact, I had to stop more than once just to sit with what I was seeing.

Storywise, this is another cracker from MacKay. Granted, this issue is very action-heavy, but writing good action isn’t easy, and boy does he deliver here. From the opening chase to the clash between the Sons of Midnight and Ginnarr in dragon form, every sequence crackles with energy. Consequently, the action drives most of the issue as the team tries to outmanoeuvre the beast. Most importantly, every character earns their place. No one is underused. Blade, Daredevil, Clea, and Ghost Rider all bring something thrilling to the fight against Ginnarr. Blade and Daredevil, in particular, get moments that I just adored.

Yet beneath the action lies an underlying sense of dread. Moon Knight hasn’t been entirely honest with his team. By the end of issue #6, it becomes clear he didn’t choose this team out of friendship or loyalty. Instead, he chooses them because each has experienced possession. Because of that, their connection to demonic possession becomes instrumental. Exactly how this plays out remains intriguing, and, naturally, issue #7 ends on a hell of a cliffhanger.

    Verdict

Marc Spector: Moon Knight #7 delivers an exhilarating ride with huge action, incredible artwork, and deadly stakes. It leaves you itching for the next issue.
