    Synopsis

I AM DA KNIFE! My body is full of DC K.O. energy! After the thrilling conclusion of our latest crossover, I’ve got a new lease on life — and it’s darker and grittier than ever! You know Batman? Well, you can call me Batquinn now! I’m like Batman, but I do things… a little differently! Bricks are gonna be flying tonight, baby!!!

    Review

What do Chloë Grace Moretz, a lead pipe, and freshly waxed floors have in common? This issue of Harley Quinn. That’s right — The Harq Knight Returns, and it’s an issue like no other. Chaotic, hilarious, and genuinely surprising, this might be one of the most fun single issues I’ve read in a while.

The first panel ties directly into G. Willow Wilson’s Ivy comic, which is quite the thrill for anyone following both runs — a little wink to the dedicated readers that says we see you, keep up. Ivy is the mayor, doing what mayors do — pointing out the obvious: Throatcutter Hill has gotten worse. Standard Tuesday, really. Meanwhile, Harley is in a Batsuit, beating up bad guys, and absolutely nobody is explaining why. It feels like opposite day, and issue #60 leans into that with total confidence.

What I love about Harley cosplaying the Bat-family is the subtle digs at their methods. Tying up criminals for the cops to find, she muses: “Should I have left a note? Will they know they’re the bad guys, or will they think they’re victims?” For a DC nerd like me, that’s the stuff. It’s the kind of joke that only lands if the writer genuinely knows the universe they’re poking fun at — and this creative team absolutely does. The minor details are something this comic has always gotten right. It weaves in small threads that, when you pull them, turn out to be much longer than expected. Nothing feels throwaway. It’s all very deliberate and very, very funny.

Because here’s the thing — there’s real craft in writing a character doing a bad impression of another character and making it land. Harley is essentially going through a trauma transformation and coming out the other side as her own chaotic version of Batman. She’s got the cadence, the poses, the brooding — all of it, just slightly unhinged. “Some people would find that punishment incredibly out of proportion — but not me, because I’m brutal” is a personal favourite, with close second going to a supporting character deadpanning “Are you really going to hit a teenage girl with a lead pipe?” That one had me in actual tears. And then — then — Harley starts shouting Chloë Grace Moretz at the top of her lungs, and it felt like a sitcom come to life. Her full Batman impression, carried across the whole issue, had me dying from start to finish.

The entire issue — art style, story, tone — feels like a fever dream. It’s meant to, and it’s executed so well that you just strap in and enjoy it. Genuinely one to pick up.

    Verdict

Harley Quinn #60 is chaotic, self-aware, and genuinely hilarious — a fever dream of an issue that fires on every cylinder. Strap in, because The Harq Knight Returns, and she’s swinging a lead pipe.
