Tubi has announced it has greenlit R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2, a sequel to the breakout hit of Original Film R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead. Inspired by R.L. Stine’s beloved The Haunting Hour, the young-adult horror movies blend just the right mix of chills and thrills, delivering a frightfully fun experience.
The first film premiered exclusively on Tubi in October 2025 and landed on Variety’s Streaming Original Movies Chart, which ranks the most-watched streaming originals every week based on data sourced from Luminate’s Film & TV Streaming Viewership (M) product. The sequel will premiere during “Terror on Tubi” October 2026.

“Few storytellers have shaped the horror genre for young audiences as profoundly as R.L. Stine, and his work continues to find new life with each generation,” said Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer at Tubi. “Given the breakout success of Pumpkinhead, we’re going deeper into this mythology and continuing our commitment to fans of young adult horror.”
“Halloween wouldn’t be Halloween without a good story about kids being trapped inside a pumpkin,” said R.L. Stine. “I’m so happy that we are going to have another pumpkin head adventure on Tubi.”
Lonely and bullied at school, Evan discovers a forbidden spellbook and unknowingly revives the ancient curse of Redhaven. Soon, the pumpkin-headed children from past sacrifices rise from the ground with a plan to claim the town during its Harvest Festival. As the event approaches, the only hope for Redhaven may be the return of a misunderstood witch determined to destroy the book and end the curse for good.
R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead premiered as part of “Terror on Tubi,” Tubi’s annual monthlong Halloween celebration and a cornerstone of its horror slate. The 2025 installment of “Terror on Tubi” drove more than 100 million hours of total viewing time, a 51% increase year over year. The surge in audience engagement underscores Tubi’s unique strength in serving horror fandoms and reinforces the platform’s strategy to invest further in exclusive content that aligns with viewer demand.
Produced by Front Street Pictures, the film is written and directed by Jem Garrard and executive produced by James Mattagne, Joan Waricha, Harvey Kahn, Yvonne Bernard, Dan Bernard, Jem Garrard, Allen Lewis, and Rama Diallo.
