Bestselling writer Mike Carey (The Girl With All the Gifts, Lucifer, The Lycan) and artist Pablo Raimondi (Sacred Creatures) re-mix the acclaimed supernatural comic book series GhostBox and turn it black-and-white. The brand new version will be releasing on February 17, 2026 from Comixology Originals.
GhostBox: Black & White strips down the colour and presents the series in stunning black, white, and gray toned artwork, revealing Raimondi’s highly detailed style in a new and striking way that creates an even more haunting experience.
“Releasing a B&W edition is a first for Comixology Originals, and we think it’s going to be an exciting experience for both fans of the colour edition and those who’ve yet to read GhostBox,” said Comixology GM Jeff DiBartolomeo. “When I first got a glimpse of Pablo’s art for GhostBox, it was early in production, and I already knew it was going to be spectacular. Then, I saw José’s gorgeous coloring and was blown away. Now, it’s exhilarating to go back to that original art stage and release this series as I first saw it in B&W. It’s stunning.”
First released digitally as single issues from Comixology Originals with coloring by José Villarrubia, the series has been collected digitally and in print. GhostBox Volume 1 was recently published in paperback from Mad Cave Studios and includes an all-new 10-page epilogue made exclusively for the print edition. GhostBox Volume 1 is also available digitally from Comixology Originals.
GhostBox: Black & White will be released as a 5-issue monthly series and is exclusively available from Comixology Originals, Amazon’s exclusive digital content line, marking the first time ever that the company will re-release a series in black-and-white. GhostBox: Black & White #1, which is a massive 42-pages long and includes bonus material featuring Carey’s original manuscript for issue #1, begins on February 17, 2026.
When sisters Chloe and Jan Peace come into an unexpected inheritance, it couldn’t come at a better time. Chloe, desperate for cash, advertises her late uncle’s possessions online — in particular, a strange ornately carved wooden box — and gets a very motivated buyer. But when the deal goes south, Chloe is arrested for murder and Jan disappears, unraveling a secret that blends fantasy and horror in a thrilling supernatural adventure.
“The colour edition, brought to life by the brilliant José Villarrubia, helped define the look and mood for the series,” says Raimondi. “This black-and-white edition presents another way to experience the art, giving readers a chance to really get closer to the raw linework. Huge thanks to Comixology Originals for bringing both the original version and now this new black-and-white edition to life!’
