Some casting news from Paramount+ this morning. The streamer has announced that Lucy Benjamin (Detectorists), Larry Lamb (Gavin and Stacey), Bobby Brazier (EastEnders) and Anita Dobson (EastEnders) are amongst those that have joined the cast of upcoming UK original drama Curfew.

The newly announced cast join the series leads, Sarah Parish (Stay Close), Mitchell Robertson (Mayflies), Mandip Gill (Doctor Who) and Alexandra Burke (Pretty Red Dress) on the six-part crime thriller, which is being produced by Vertigo Films  (Monsters, Britannia, Mammals) in association with Evolutionary Films (Aux, Vengeance). The series will be available exclusively on Paramount+ in the UK, whilst Federation Studios will handle global sales.

An adaptation of Jayne Cowie’s Novel After Dark, Curfew commenced filming earlier this year. In a society governed by ‘The Women’s Safety Act’ where men are tracked by ankle tag and confined to their homes by a strict curfew from 7pm every night, a woman’s body is discovered brutally murdered in Curfew hours. Veteran Police officer Pamela Green believes a man must be responsible, however, in a world where men are bound by the curfew system, if Pamela proves a man committed this murder she could bring The Women’s Safety Act crashing down – but powerful forces are determined to make the curfew a success and will do whatever it takes to silence Pamela in her relentless pursuit of the truth.

Lucy Benjamin is DCI Sue Ferguson, overseeing Pamela’s investigation. Larry Lamb is Rhys Holden, whose family arrives in the UK from America and has to learn to adjust to life under the restrictive curfew system.

Bobby Brazier is James, a vocal schoolboy advocating for the abolishment of the curfew, whilst Anita Dobson is Janet, who runs a ‘motherhouse’, a refuge-style home for women that don’t want to cohabit with men.

Also joining the ensemble cast is Tommy McDonnell (Alice & Jack), Adam Korson (This Is Us), Amy Louise Pemberton (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), Imogen Sandhu (Casualty), James Craven (Coronation Street), Selorm Adonu (Man to Man) and newcomer Raphael D’Alterio.

Joasia Goldyn (Britannia) is Director on the series, whilst Lydia Yeoman is lead writer. Yeoman is also Executive Producer on the series alongside Allan Niblo, Jane Moore and Nathalie Peter-Contesse for Vertigo Films. John Adams (The Magnificent Eleven) joins the team as Producer with Diane Shorthouse (Cyberbully) as Production Executive.
