VENOM breaks the record for biggest opening day for a solo superhero movie in China

Venom

Venom has finally arrived in China and it has landed with a bang. The Sony Pictures movie, the first in their Spider-less-verse, has broken the record for the biggest opening day ever for a superhero movie in the region.

Tom Hardy and the gang opened with $34.2M on Friday including $2.5M from Thursday previews. There’s a strong chance the movie closes out the weekend with over $100M. That would push Venom in to the #7 spot on the list of highest grossing movies of 2018.

Currently the worldwide gross for Venom is around $550M. For more check out our Venom archive here!

One of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass characters comes to the big screen, starring Academy Award® nominated actor Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom.

Venom stars Tom Hardy in the lead role. Supporting cast includes Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, Reid Scott and Woody Harrelson. The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) from a script by Scott Rosenberg & Jeff Pinkner. Executive producers are David Householter, the legendary Stan Lee and Kelly Marcel.

Venom is in cinemas worldwide now!
