Rejoice, ‘Injustice’ fans! A new dawn rises.

Following on from the unprecedented success of NetherRealm Studios’ and Warner Brothers’ blockbuster platform fighter, a new hero emerges. ‘Injustice 2’ is set to be a bigger, better, more immersive and in-depth beat ‘em up than its predecessor.

Continuing on from the 2013 smash-hit ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’; ‘Injustice 2’ offers new characters, new moves and new perils to face as NetherRealm and WB pit the best (and worst) of the DC universe against each other, with explosive results.

Features from the last game include buffs – game strategies specifically designed for the play style of each hero – destructible environments, dynamic stage transitions and epic character clashes.

Continuing the plot of ‘Injustice Gods Among Us’, alternate universe Batman and his Insurgents are fighting to restore balance and normality after Superman’s brutal regime. This time however, a new – as yet unspecified – threat emerges.

Regarding available players, gamers can expect favourites such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Supergirl to make a return, with the exciting addition of Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd – nemesis of the Flash.

But there’s been an even bigger change. The folks at NetherRealm Studios recently released a cracker of an update in the form of two ‘Suicide Squad’ heroes (or villains?). The most recent trailer, Harley Quinn and Deadshot square off, and are confirmed as playable characters – with plenty of attitude and wardrobe changes. The diversity of outfits shown in the trailer alone hint at more opportunities for player customisation than the previous game.

In the video, Harley Quinn enters flanked by two baying bloodhounds, sporting colourful hair somewhat reminiscent of the Joker’s garish attire. There’s a recognisable sadism in the way she lays her damage out; from the senseless baseball bat beatings on such DC giants as Batman and Wonder Woman, to the casual toss of dynamite before ordering her hellhounds to feast on a member of the Red Lantern Corps and finishing with a brutal ground and pound.

Deadshot enters cool and collected; combining knife and gun as one before squaring up to Harley. We’re then treated to a taste of his killer level three combo, as he takes a knife to Batman’s upper body multiple times before catching the rifle he tossed in the air earlier and firing a round directly into the Dark Knight’s cowl.

Clearly the biggest news of the game so far; the addition of ‘Suicide Squad’ characters neatly fits in with the updates of the wildly popular iOS ‘Injustice Gods Among Us’ app, with many wondering what other playable characters will be introduced.

With the game releasing in the next year, there’s still plenty of time for the character roster to be boosted, and here’s hoping they include as many fan favourites as possible. ‘Injustice 2’ will be released in 2017 for PS4, Xbox 360, iOS and Android.

Earlier this week Rocksteady and Warner Interactive announced the first vague details and pricing for the season pass to be release alongside the upcoming ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ (read the details here) but now the companies have gone one steps further by announcing details of what will make the season pass and giving us our first look at the Arkham franchise version of Batgirl!

In a statement the two companies announced:

Earlier this week, we announced the Season Pass for Batman: Arkham Knight. While the story of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Trilogy will come to a close on June 23rd, we are excited to continue telling stories and delivering more content to explore and play through in the 6 months following the game’s release. We’ll be building more narrative, more missions, more challenges and more characters and vehicles that we want players to experience, even though they didn’t fit into the storyline of Batman: Arkham Knight.

We’ve heard from our community that you want more information on what we’ll be delivering in the Season Pass. While we aren’t ready to unveil every aspect of the content we’ll be developing, we would like to share more detail now to give you a better sense of the scope of the Season Pass.

What details you ask? Well here you go!

‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ delayed to June 23rd, new footage debuts!

In sad news today it was announced that the upcoming ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ has been delayed to 23rd June 2015 moving back a further three weeks having already been pushed back by several months.

No official news has been given to explain the delay but to make up for the wait Rocksteady has released the following 7+ minute gameplay video entitled ‘Officer Down’ who features a mix of cut scene and gameplay footage taken direct from the PS4 version of the game.

The video shows off all aspects of the game from new gadgets to fight moves and of course the Batmobile. Check it out below and sound off in the comments about the added delay:

Details on Harley Quinn DLC content for ‘Arkham Knight’

Harley Quinn in ‘Arkham Knight’

When pre-orders for the June release of Rocksteady games final instalment in the ‘Arkham’ franchise ‘Arkham Knight’ were put up one of the first bits of info to come to light was that all pre-orders would come with a Harley Quinn playable DLC pack.

Avid fans will note that there is also a playable Red Hood pack coming but details on that are still sparse.

Today (via Amazon.com) comes news on the story of the Harley Quinn pack which serves as a prequel to the main ‘Arkham Knight’ storyline. The DLC is described as follows:

“For the first time in the Arkham series take on the role of Joker’s psychotic side-kick Harley Quinn and wreak havoc inside the Blüdhaven Police Department. With this exclusive Story Pack experience events in the lead-up to Arkham Knight as you infiltrate Blüdhaven to rescue your partner in crime: Poison Ivy. Delve deep into Harley’s demented nature and utilize her devastating baseball bat to smash, crash and bash your way to a friend very much in need.”

Interesting to see the setting of the game shift to Gotham’s neighbouring city Blüdhaven which fans will know as the home of Nightwing who has made several appearances in the previous ‘Arkham’ games.

Which are you looking forward to more: Harley Quinn DLC? Or Red Hood?

GAMES NEWS: ‘Arkham Knight’ Batmobile gameplay footage

We know we’re a little slow on the uptake in posting this one but here’s some awesome footage of the Batmobile in action from the upcoming ‘Arkham Knight’ game. The threequel is set to be released in Q1 of 2015 on next-gen consoles only. Hopefully you, like us, are currently saving up for your Xbox One and/or PS4.

The footage shows off the Batmobile in both battle mode and standard driving mode and it looks as though it is pretty badass in bad ass in both settings.

Enjoy!
