Universal Pictures, Illumination and partners at Nintendo have debuted a series of new character posters for April’s The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The film is set to release in UK cinemas on April 1, 2026.
The posters highlight each of the film’s main cast from heroes Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day) plus, of course, the villainous King Koopa (Jack Black). They’re joined by newcomers Princess Rosalina (Brie Larson) and fan-favourite Yoshi who has been taking centre stage in the film’s recent marketing. Look carefully and each of the posters also highlights a different world fans can expect to see when the film hits cinemas later this spring.
Take a look at each of the brand new posters below:
The sequel follows The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which was released in 2023 and earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide. No synopsis for the film has been released at the time of writing but it’s anticipated that the film will follow the storyline of the 2007 game of the same name, released on the Nintendo Wii.
Joining the cast of the sequel is Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) who takes on the role of Princess Rosalina. Protector of the cosmos and the adoptive mother of the Lumas. Larson will be joined by Benny Safdie (Oppenheimer) who will be voicing Bowser Jr.
Returning voice actors from the first film include Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad) and Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek).
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is directed by returning filmmakers Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, from a screenplay by returning screenwriter Matthew Fogel, with Brian Tyler returning to compose the score.
