DC Comics has announced the Summer of Supergirl slate as the Girl of Steel takes over Superman Day with retailer events, surprises for fans, and an incredible lineup of comic books and graphics for fans of all ages. April 18 has long been recognized as a milestone in the history of comic books, marking the debut of Superman in Action Comics#1 in 1938. Supergirl joined the DC Universe more than two decades later with her first appearance in Action Comics #252 on March 31, 1959, quickly becoming a powerful symbol of hope, resilience, and empowerment for fans around the world.

This year, Superman Day takes on an exciting new meaning.

With excitement building for June’s theatrical release of Supergirl, DC is inviting retailers, partners, and fan communities to participate in the celebration and engage consumers through themed in-store and digital activations. Look out for talent signings, limited-time promotions, curated collections, fan-driven events, loyalty incentives, and other in-store activations at your local comic book shop or retailer. Stay tuned to @DCcomics and DC.com/Superman for the latest can’t-miss updates hitting comics shops nationwide!

Fans can dive headfirst into all things super with a sweeping selection of Supergirl and Superman comics, starting with the iconic facsimile edition of Action Comics #252, the classic story that introduced Kara Zor-El to the world. Readers can also experience the acclaimed coming-of-age graphic novel Supergirl: Being Super—now presented in vibrant new color and an updated format from New York Times–bestselling and Caldecott Honor–winning writer Mariko Tamaki and Eisner Award–nominated artist Joëlle Jones—a fresh, emotional, and modern exploration of what it truly means to grow into one’s power. Additional fan-favorite stories and character-defining arcs offer both longtime readers and newcomers deeper insight into Supergirl’s evolving legacy. The celebration continues throughout the summer with a stunning new deluxe hardcover edition of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, followed by From Comic to Screen: The Art of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a deluxe behind-the-scenes volume that chronicles the creation of both the comic and the DC Studios film it inspired, bringing fans closer than ever to the hero who continues to soar.
