Universal Pictures, Illumination and partners at Nintendo have debuted a new Super Bowl spot for April’s The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The film is currently set to release in UK cinemas on April 1, 2026.
The spot takes the form of an extended clip, highlighting a moment seen in the most recent trailer for the film. Baby Mario and Luigi, alongside Toad and Yoshi, come face-to-face with a terrifying T-Rex which sees the smaller dinosaur taking on one of his prehistoric relatives.

The sequel follows The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which was released in 2023 and earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide. No synopsis for the film has been released at the time of writing but it’s anticipated that the film will follow the storyline of the 2007 game of the same name, released on the Nintendo Wii.
Joining the cast of the sequel is Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) who takes on the role of Princess Rosalina. Protector of the cosmos and the adoptive mother of the Lumas. Larson will be joined by Benny Safdie (Oppenheimer) who will be voicing Bowser Jr.
Returning voice actors from the first film include Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad) and Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek).
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is directed by returning filmmakers Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, from a screenplay by returning screenwriter Matthew Fogel, with Brian Tyler returning to compose the score.
