Vertigo Releasing has announced the UK digital release of Witchboard, the remake of the 1986 classic from horror master Chuck Russell, marking his return following cult favourites A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and The Blob.
The film is being hailed as a twisted reimagining of the ’80s cult classic. After Emily (Iselan) unearths an ancient spirit board, those closest to her begin dying in sudden, shocking ways. Now, her remaining friends must stop the curse—before it takes them all. Witchboard is also the third film in Russell’s trilogy of fantasy-horror titles, which he saw as an opportunity to expand on classic horror franchises. It is a continuation of his experiments in terrifying audiences while using inspiration from timeless tales.
