Celebrated writer Cullen Bunn (The Sixth Gun, Harrow County) and visionary artist Christopher Mitten (Hellboy & the B.P.R.D.) have crafted a sublime story of suspense, horror, and family drama with The Autumn Kingdom: Through the Blight, their acclaimed dark fantasy saga which racked up critical accolades and landed on critics’ “best comics of the year” list.
In February 2026, these two master storytellers will reunite for The Autumn Kingdom: The Wraithbound Queen #1 – the first issue of a fantastic and frightening four-issue comic book series that follows two young sisters into the depths of a twilight realm ruled by faeries, monsters, and demons in a desperate quest to rescue their parents from a millennia-old blood sacrifice. The stunning next chapter of The Autumn Kingdom will hit stores on February 4th from Oni Press, the multiple Eisner and Harvey Award-winning publisher of groundbreaking comics and graphic novels since 1997.
“When I started writing AUTUMN KINGDOM, I knew I had a big, epic story to tell,” said Cullen Bunn. “I also knew that I needed to break it into easy-to-digest chapters. In a lot of ways, it’s like the classic dark sword and sorcery tales of old. You can jump in with WRAITH QUEEN and easily follow and enjoy the story. You’ll know there’s a bigger world to explore, but that only adds fuel to the world-building fire!”
Issue #1 will feature a main cover by Christopher Mitten, a variant cover by Morgan Beem (Swamp Thing: Twin Branches), and a stunning wraparound variant cover by Juan Moore of the Odd Artworks YouTube Channel, whose maximalist, richly detailed style charts the story of The Autumn Kingdom through the first volume to the shocking spectacle of The Wraithbound Queen #1.

“Juan’s signature isometric fantasy illustrations overflow with ghastly ghouls and goblins, weaving rich and surprising details into every piece,” said Oni Press Senior Editor Bess Pallares. “As a fan of the Odd Artworks channel, I knew he’d be the perfect artist to recap Sommer and Winter’s descent into The Autumn Kingdom, with its battles, massive swords, horbdes of monsters, and the dark fairy tale feel of this world—and he did not disappoint! I hope this cover is an exciting journey back through the story for returning readers, and an irresistible teaser for newcomers alike.”
Kidnapped by the fae, sisters Sommer and Winter’s parents have disappeared behind the veiled walls of the Autumn Kingdom—mythical borderlands that their fantasy author father once thought were total fiction. Now, with the human world far behind them, their final conquest—and their father’s freedom—stands before them…behind a legion of goblins, trolls, and corrupted human souls… EVIL DEADmeets LABYRINTH in this dazzlingly rendered horror saga that /FILM calls classic “sword and sorcery” shot through with “scary monsters and mortal peril”!
