Emblem Pictures has today launched the official trailer for its debut feature, Desperate Journey, marking the company’s entry into UK film distribution. The film is directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Annabel Jankel (Tell It to the Bees) and written by two-time Academy Award nominee and BAFTA winner Michael Radford (Il Postino).
As the Nazis invade, Freddie Knoller is forced to flee Vienna. Stranded in Paris, penniless and in urgent need of papers, he takes a job at a notorious burlesque club frequented by high-ranking Nazis. In this glamorous yet dangerous world, he falls for the lead showgirl and is drawn into a chain of events that will change his life forever.

Based on a true story, Desperate Journey is a fast-paced thriller set in the burlesque world of 1940s Paris, featuring rising star Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen (1899), Clara Rugaard (I Am Mother), Til Schweiger (Inglourious Basterds), and Steven Berkoff (A Clockwork Orange).
The film was edited by Academy Award nominee Jon Harris (127 Hours). The original score was composed by BAFTA and Emmy nominee Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust) and recorded with a full orchestra. The film was mixed for theatrical Dolby Atmos by Academy Award winner Richard Pryke (Slumdog Millionaire).
The Desperate Journey original motion picture soundtrack will be released by Sony Music in November 2025. The film opens exclusively in cinemas nationwide on November 28 2025.
