Coffee Stain Publishing and Box Dragon have announced the release date for their newest IP, the strategic roguelike As We Descend. The game will launch into early access on March 27th 2025, As We Descend will thrust players into an apocalyptic future to shape the fate of a submerging civilization at the end of the world.
The game currently has a free demo available as part of the Steam Next Fest, which kicked off today and will run until March 3rd. The demo has just received a massive update to its content.

In As We Descend, players will need to strategise and grow their influence to manage a city of the edge of extinction. Gather resources, build relationships, and successfully navigate feudal politics to compel allies to their cause, all the while assembling forces to send on dangerous expeditions outside of the city’s walls.
Players can recruit a variety of squads with unique card sets and abilities, allowing for tailored combinations to ensure success in each encounter. They’ll need to be ready to face all manner of monstrous creatures in challenging card-based combat, and adapt tactics to beat titanic foes in order to bring home vital artefacts.
As We Descend is the debut game from Box Dragon, a game development studio founded by former Stunlock Studios veterans Kevin Chang and Karl Bergström. The game’s art is designed by Aleks Nikonov, former character and environment concept artist at Riot Games.
