Paramount Pictures is gearing up for the gigantic home release of director Ridley Scott’s action-packed epic, Gladiator II. To celebrate our return to the Colosseum, Paramount Pictures have released a bunch of behind-the-scenes videos diving into the characters and world of Gladiator II. In this clip, Ridley Scott discusses the importance of music and sound. The film’s soundtrack was crafted by Harry Gregson-Williams who created an entirely new soundscape for the epic and cleverly incorporated Hans Zimmer’s score from the first film, resulting in a beautiful blend of fresh and familiarity which perfectly mirrors Paul Mescal’s Lucius.

Lucius Verus (Paul Mescal) is a warrior condemned to the gladiatorial arena after his town of Numidia was invaded and conquered for Rome by general Marcus Acacius (Pedro Pascal), setting Lucius in a rage-filled quest for blood, which gains Lucius the ingratiation of Macrinus (Denzel Washington), a power broker who seeks to use this untamed desire to bring Rome to his knees, promising Lucius he can have Acacius’ head in exchange for his sacrifice and bloodshed.
