    What’s Streaming on Shudder in August 2024

    Take a look at all the titles coming to the horror streamer in August 2024.

    Time to take a look at what another of our favourite streamers has planned in August 2024. Our friends at Shudder have announced plans for their full lineup of movies which are ready to have us watching our TVs from behind the safety of a pillow. As we head towards Halloween the horror streamer is starting to pull out the big guns ready for spooky season

    Here’s a look at the full listings for the month:

    Hell Hole
    Film Premieres Exclusively on Shudder and AMC+ on Friday 23 August

    The newest film from the Adams Family, the filmmaking team behind Hellbender, Hell Hole centers on an America-led fracking crew that uncovers a living French soldier frozen in time from a Napoleonic campaign, whose body hosts a parasitic monster. Starring Toby Poser, John Adams, Max Portman and Anders Hove.

    Horror’s Greatest – Shudder Original
    Series Premieres on Shudder and AMC+ Tuesday 27 August

    Celebrating the very best the genre has to offer, Horror’s Greatest is a deep dive into everything we love about horror. From fresh looks at classics to unearthing scores of hidden gems, this series has something for every fright film enthusiast. A gallery of ghoulish pros, including actors, directors, writers, composers, and special effects artists, draw on their unique knowledge to answer the big questions: What are the must-see films in horror’s many sub-genres? What’s the appeal of horror tropes, and how do today’s filmmakers subvert our expectations? What shape does horror take in countries outside of the United States? The answers encompass the breath of the nightmares we watch for our entertainment.

    Dancing Village: The Curse Begins – Shudder Exclusive
    Film Premieres on Shudder and AMC+ Friday 16 August

    A shaman instructs Mila to return a mystical bracelet, the Kawaturih, to the “Dancing Village,” a remote site on the easternmost tip of Java Island. Joined by her cousin, Yuda, and his friends Jito and Arya, Mila arrives on the island only to discover that the village elder has passed away, and that the new guardian, Mbah Buyut, isn’t present. Various strange and eerie events occur while awaiting Mbah Buyut’s return, including Mila being visited by Badarawuhi, a mysterious, mythical being who rules the village. When she decides to return the Kawaturih without the help of Mgah Buyut, Mila threatens the village’s safety, and she must join a ritual to select the new “Dawuh,” a cursed soul forced to dance for the rest of her life.

    Two mysterious brothers abduct a mogul during his quest for immortality. Meanwhile, a seductive woman helps them launch a journey of self-discovery. Produced by Steven Soderberg and starring Bella Thorne, Stephen Dorff, and Scott Bakula.

    August 1

    The Dead Mother

    A criminal, shoots and kills a painting restorer during a bungled burglary, and shoots her daughter as well. Twenty years later, the daughter has been left mute with a mental age of a child, spending most of her time in a mental institution.

    The House on the Edge of the Park

    Two low-life punks invite themselves to a party at a posh villa and after being taunted by their snobbish hosts, hold everyone hostage and subject them to various forms of torture and mayhem. 

    Tales That Witness Madness

    A psychiatrist tells the stories of four special cases to a colleague.

    Seven Deaths in the Cat’s Eye

    In a small Scottish village, the bodies of horribly murdered victims keep turning up. Suspicion falls upon the residents of a nearby castle, which is haunted by a curse involving a killer cat.

    The Coffee Table

    Jesus and Maria are a couple who have just become parents, and they decide to buy a new coffee table, a decision that will change their existence.

    The House of the Devil

    In 1983, financially struggling college student Samantha Hughes takes a strange babysitting job that coincides with a full lunar eclipse. She slowly realizes her clients harbor a terrifying secret, putting her life in mortal danger.

    The Innkeepers

    During the final days at the Yankee Pedlar Inn, two employees determined to reveal the hotels haunted past begin to experience disturbing events as old guests check in for a stay. 

    August 19

    Night of the Demon (1980)

    An anthropologist and his students attempt to track down a Bigfoot responsible for a rash of violent murders, only to uncover something even more sinister. 

    Door

    After several strangely threatening calls from a local salesman, a homemaker becomes increasingly afraid to answer her apartment door.

    Door II: Tokyo Diary

    Ai is a call girl and makes 20,000 Yen per hour. But her job involves a lot of risks.

    The Guard From the Underground

    A woman begins working at the same company as a security guard that she believe might be a former sumo wrestling serial killer.

    One Cut of the Dead

    Things go badly for a hack director and film crew shooting a low budget zombie movie in an abandoned WWII Japanese facility, when they are attacked by real zombies. 

    August 26

    Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things

    Six friends in a theatrical troupe dig up a corpse on an abandoned island to use in a mock Satanic rite. It backfires with deadly consequences. 

    Deathdream

    A young soldiers killed in the Vietnam War inexplicably shows up at his family home on the night of his death.
