Gunslinger Spawn #24 is published by Image Comics, written by Todd McFarlane and illustrated by Brett Booth.

Issue #24 is available 20th September 2023 either directly from Image Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

The Gunslinger still has a sickness coursing through his veins—one that may kill him if he can’t figure out who or what is causing it!

    Review

In this issue we shown more of a background to Taylor to understand the character more and what put him on this path as Taylor has drift off to sleep and begins to dream about the years that have past with some of the information revealed certainly raised a few eyebrows.

Time is beginning to run out for Taylor as the poison that flows throughout his veins is beginning to take control putting Taylor in grave danger, Gunslinger has to make the decision whether to help and take care of his relatively new travel partner or leave him somewhere safe where he knows he will be taken care of so Gunslinger can get back to his mission at hand.

What seems to be a big part of Gunslingers past crosses his path unsuspectingly, Sharon is trying her very best to keep her crumbling life from falling apart completely and in doing so has brought her to the attention of Gunslinger a certain artifact he wants back that holds dear memories is in Sharon’s possession but Gunslinger wants it back, this isn’t the only thing that draws Gunslinger’s attention, this sickening discovery is about to bring a whole different line of trouble to Gunslinger’s feet, someone is going to pay?

This Gunslinger series is heating up, it gives you all that you could possibly want from a Spawn title. The rawness flows through the book as Gunslinger is trying his best to navigate through this dark universe with unsuspecting twists around each and every corner. Todd McFarlane brings an edge to the Spawn writing that no other writer could do, he created this monster and it shows in the writing that he still holds it very close to his heart. The writing of the book is thought provoking and hard hitting but entertaining at the same time, this recent vein of story seems to have invigorated the Gunslinger character and brought a new life to series as we go deeper into the Gunslinger Spawn character and what exactly makes him tick, this multiverse is set to become even darker than we know the Spawn world to be and I am definitely here for it.

The illustrations from Brett Booth in this book are some of his best work, each panel is ram packed with bloodied action, but the intense detail from Booth really adds an unrivalled depth to the illustrations that gives the book that hard hitting depth and allows Todd to highlight the driven intensity that oozes through Gunslinger.

    Verdict

    Just buy it!!!

A definite recommendation, Todd McFarlane and Brett Booth are producing some of the best work and you don’t want to miss it.
