Today is Star Trek Day, a day where fans across the globe come together to celebrate another trip around the sun since Star Trek: The Original Series first debuted on TV screens across America. This year is also a milestone as it marks 50 years since the debut of the very first Trek spin-off series, Star Trek: The Animated Series.
As part of the celebrations Paramount+ has debuted a new retrospective special, hosted by Lower Decks actor Jerry O’Connell, which takes a look at the franchise’s legacy and its future. He’s also joined by some familiar faces from across the Trek pantheon to look at some of the franchises’ weirdest moments and it’s journey into animation.
