Synopsis
Antioch meets his new neighbors in a prison designed for supervillains. Frontiersman is the only friendly face and as it turns out-not that friendly! Did Antioch make a mistake turning himself in? Will he survive until his trial?
Review
In this issue we see Antioch start to settle into prison life and begin to get to know his fellow inmates one in particular is Frontiersman with an alliance beginning to form. We learn the past actions of many of the inmates building character profiles and laying foundations for what is to come. As Antioch awaits his trial we learn that there looks to be certain people that don’t want him to reach that trial, but why? And who?
I personally feel that Antioch is more of a slow burner in terms of story, Patrick Kindlon has created an off shoot story that seems to fit nicely into the Frontiersman world creating a character that has the potential to take over the series building foundations for the series to come.
The illustrations from Marco Ferrari are probably some of his best work, each panel creates more of the story adding more depth and giving each character a more multi dimensional feel.
I personally feel that Antioch will definitely be one of the comic series to watch in this coming year.
Verdict
A bit of a slow burn in terms of story but it definitely feels like a story worth sticking with, the foundations have been laid for something very interesting on the way.
