Magic: The Hidden Planeswalker #1 (BOOM! Studios)

Magic: The Hidden Planeswalker #2 is published by BOOM! Studios, written by Mairghread Scott, illustrated by Fabiana Mascolo and French Carlomagno, coloured by Francesco Segala with Gloria Martinelli and lettered by Ed Dukeshire.

Issue #2 is available 25th May 2022 either directly from Boom! Studios online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

Synopsis

Liliana’s hunt for the mysterious planeswalker begins! She races to the legendary hero’s home plane, determined to find her before the Master of Metal twists her unique powers to his terrible purposes. But this dangerous new plane holds secrets of its own, and eyes frozen shut will open for the first time in fifty years…

Review

In this issue we see Liliana frantically searching for the hidden Planeswalker, a mysterious being hidden for a generation the race is on to find her before the Master of Metal does and use her powers for evil.

The book itself is an intense cat and mouse chase through the lands, good battling evil as the two forces collide.

Mairghread Scott effortlessly builds a world with her strong writing creating a story that runs alongside the other MTG multiverse building a unique story world that is evolving with each book that stays true to the lore of MTG.

The illustrations of the book are nothing short of magical with Fabiana Mascolo and French Carlomagno creating a visual symphony, bringing the mystical journey to life with beautiful textures that bring the words more depth and power, the colours are brought by the amazingly talented Francesco Segala and Gloria Martinelli, using their talents to add more magic and depth to the intense story with bold colouring and exciting tones.

Verdict

This new arc is building itself into something quire dramatic, as the story begins to unfold the intense chase becomes breathtaking and visually stunning, well worth picking up if you’re a MTG fan.
