We love a good film about Vikings. There is something incredibly chilling about that era… It’s also rather beautiful. The overall aesthetic, the gritty nature of life, as well as the surreal environment. It’s amazing how Robert Eggers’ The Northman has captured that aesthetic brilliantly, yet we’ve barely seen any footage.

From visionary director Robert Eggers comes The Northman, an action-filled epic that follows a young Viking prince on his quest to avenge his father’s murder. With an all-star cast that includes Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Björk, and Willem Dafoe.
If you’re familiar with Eggers’ work like The Witch and The Lighthouse, you’ll have a pretty good idea as to what you can expect from The Northman. Considering that it has just received an “R” rating for “Strong bloody violence, some sexual content and nudity,” it’s safe to say that The Northman is going to be brutal and tough watch… And we can’t wait.
