Deadline is reporting that Dane DeHaan (The Staircase) has signed-off to join the cast of Christopher Nolan’s much reported Oppenheimer which is currently in pre-production at Universal.
Dehaan joins an ever expanding cast which is so-far confirmed to include regular Nolan collaborator Cillian Murphy plus Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie and Josh Hartnett.
Nolan’s first post-Warner Bros. film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin. Murphy stars as the theoretical physicist of the same name, whose work on the Manhattan Project led to the invention of the atomic bomb.
At the time of writing we have no news as to who DeHaan will be playing in the film.
Nolan is directing the film, which is set to shoot in New Mexico, from his own script. Co-producing are Emma Thomas and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven, with the film slated to debut in cinemas on July 21, 2023.
