    Disney Confirms ETERNALS’ Theatrical Window

According to Deadline, Disney have confirmed that the remaining films in their 2021 calendar will receive an exclusive theatrical window. After the incredible premiere of Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, which opened to $94 million across the Labor Day weekend and now sits at almost $300 million worldwide, it appears as though Disney have acknowledged the importance of the big-screen experience. It’s likely that Shang-Chi gave them that slight nudge.

So, what does this mean? Well, it means that you’ll be able to enjoy Disney’s upcoming films in the cinema. However, each film now has a set window. When that window closes, they’ll be taken out of the cinema and delivered straight to your home via Disney+. For example, Walt Disney Animation’s Encanto will arrive in theatres with a 30-day window before it drops on Disney+. With a release date of November 24th in the US, Encanto will arrive on Disney+ on Christmas Eve.

Here’s what Kareem Daniel, Chairman of Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, had to say:

“As confidence in moviegoing continues to improve, we look forward to entertaining audiences in theaters, while maintaining the flexibility to give our Disney+ subscribers the gift of Encanto this holiday season.”

Other films such as Marvel’s Eternals (Nov 5), The Last Duel (Oct 15), Ron’s Gone Wrong (Oct 22), The King’s Man (Dec 22), and West Side Story (Dec 10) will each receive a 45-day theatrical window. After those 45 days are up, the films will become available on Disney+ under their premium service.

The great news is that we’ll all be able to witness the might of the Eternals on the big screen. We’ll have 45 days to watch it as many times as possible and then it’ll be available to watch at home- for a fee, of course. The 45-day window means that Eternals should drop on Disney+ on December 20th.

What do you think of Disney’s new plan? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Directed by Chloé Zhao from a screenplay by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, Eternals stars Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Barry Keoghan as Druig and Kit Harington as Dane Whitman/Black Knight.
