Legends of Tomorrow season 6 stars Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan, Olivia Swann, Jes Macallan, Adam Tsekhman, Shayan Sobhian, Lisseth Chavez and Raffi Barsoumian. New episodes air Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

    Synopsis

When Sara (Caity Lotz) realizes Bishop’s (guest star Raffi Barsoumian) plan, Ava (Jes Macallan) convinces Sara to allow the Legends to make exception to the rules to help fight back. Behrad (Shayan Sobhian) comes up with an interesting plan, that allows Sara to connect with an old friend. Meanwhile, amidst a battle Sara and Ava make an important decision but need the help of the team to pull it off. Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan, Olivia Swann, Adam Tsekham and Lisseth Chavez also stars. David Geddes directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & James Eagan (615). Original airdate 9/5/2021.

    Review

After last week’s cliff-hanger the team was not looking too great, Rory got caught in an explosion saving one of his eggs and Bishop had successfully disrupted the Fountain and killed Constantine in the process.  This picks right up where they left off, quickly dispelling Rory’s fate by having him be completely fine and Zari informing the others of Constantine’s death.
Bishop even manages to steal Kayla’s ship and gets away with it!

It’s not looking too great for the Legends as they frantically try to rally together to save the world. Originally when I saw the trailer for the finale I had thought “once again none of the other heroes are called in?” before this episode answered that with it still being 1925 which is a good write around for the absence from the more useful heroes.

Behrad in his usual out of the box thinking, takes a bite of the mushroom left behind after the Fountain consumed Constantine and claims to have had a vision with John, Sara eats abit and sure enough, we get a heavily John who apologises for his actions and gives some solutions in some cryptic ways.

The rest of the team end up recruiting a far younger and kinder Bishop from his past to help fashion a cure for Spooner and the Fountain which he willingly aids the team with.

In standard Legends fashion however all the end of the world stuff is put aside in favour of the team looking out for themselves as Sara and Ava get married, unsure if they will survive to see tomorrow.  A nice little escape from the Doomsday scenario and even Kayla gets dressed up for the occasion.

Eventually the aliens arrive and the Legends hold up in the house which is when Spooner gets a power upgrade and is able to swap peoples powers together (we are all connected after all!) So it was kinda great to see the Legends effortlessly use each other’s powers to save the day, and in a sadly cheesy way the day is saved by Sara and Ava’s vows and the combined love from the rest of the Legends!

Bishop is quickly eaten by Kayla and Rory’s babies (you read that right) and the timeline is set right once more.  Mick also tells Sara of his plans to leave the crew and just before they all return to the ship the big finale twist happens….another Legends Ship arrives, blows up their ship and then flies off!  Why?  Who knows! But the team is now stranded in 1925.

Gotta say, I was not too blown away by this finale, the season had been incredibly strong but I felt it did not stick the landing.  I had hoped Bishop would live to see another day, along with Kayla’s ship he could have been the bigger antagonist of Season 8, recruiting his own team of Legends to try and shape history in their own way (I know this would be a retread of the Legion of Doom but that was so much fun!).  Even the death of Constantine being undone and having him back to where he was before he joined the Legends was also a shame.

    Verdict

Although the finale fell abit flat, Season 6 of Legends of Tomorrow was overall brilliant.  They had some gripping stories that made me want to keep returning and the show was not afraid to go into some wild and crazy situations thanks to its incredibly colourful and unique cast.

Lucky for us the next season premieres in October so the wait to find out why the future Legends destroyed their ship won’t be too long!
