See Everything Coming To MUBI This February

February is going to be a busy month over at digital cinema platform Mubi. Here’s a look at everything which is joining the platform next month.

This month, we’re thrilled to exclusively present Cathy Yan’s masterful first feature Dead Pigs (2018), a bitingly humourous social satire about the trials and tribulations connecting a disparate group of characters, as thousands of dead pigs mysteriously float down the river towards a rapidly modernising Shanghai, China. Unreleased so far, the dark comedy will be showing exclusively on MUBI after its successful festival debut (which included a Grand Jury Prize for the ensemble cast at Sundance), and rave reviews that landed Yan the job to direct the critically acclaimed DC Comics film, Birds of Prey.

    Dead Pigs – 12 February

With two of our favourite film festivals taking place online this year, we’re reminiscing about the last edition of the Berlinale and the Rotterdam International Film Festival with a special collection of films direct from last year’s selections.

Highlights from our Direct from Rotterdam special include Oda Kaori’s mesmerizing documentary Cenote (2019) and Salka Tiziana’s portrait of an isolated family For the Time Being (2020), as well as Carl Olsson’s Meanwhile on Earth (2020) and Babis Makridis’ Birds (Or How To Be One) (2020).

Our Berlinale Focus includes the D’Innocenzo Brothers’ competition entry Bad Tales (2020), Patric Chiha’s magnetic dance reverie If It Were Love (2020), Romanian master Radu Jude’s latest political investigation Uppercase Print (2020), Georgis Grigorakis’ Digger (2020) and Matthew Rankin’s The Twentieth Century (2019).

    Cenote – 1 February
For The Time Being – 4 February
Birds (Or How To Be One) – 8 February
    Bad Tales – 18 February
If It Were Love – 11 February
The Twentieth Century – 15 February
    Digger – 16 February
    Uppercase Print – 17 February

This month, we’re spotlighting the brilliant cinema of one of the most unique and uncompromising American indie directors, Alex Ross Perry. The three films that make up our focus are The Color Wheel (2012), an uncomfortably funny road trip film about a pair of siblings that are equally arrogant and vulnerable, Listen Up Philip (2014), starring Jason Schwartzman as a narcissistic writer, and Queen of Earth (2015), an acerbic, sharp drama featuring two wonderful performances by Elizabeth Moss and Katherine Waterston.

The Color Wheel – 7 February
Listen Up Philip – 19 February
Queen of Earth – 28 February
