A new rumours from Discussing Film is suggesting that original directors The Wachowski’s are returning to The Matrix franchise.
There have been rumours for some time that Warner Bros. has been eying a fourth instalment in The Matrix world. THR previously reported Zak Penn (X2) will write the screenplay and Michael B Jordan (Black Panther) will star.
Discussing Film understands that the Wachowskis will return to direct the film which will begin production in early 2020 in Chicago. The movie is said to have been secretly prepping under the working title “Project Ice Cream”.
Plot details are being kept heavily under wraps for now. It is understood that The Wachowski’s are piecing together a crew of Matrix veterans to help them bring the franchise back to cinemas.
Released in 1999 The Matrix starred Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss and Laurence Fishburne. Made for just $63m the movie grossed a huge $463.5m worldwide.
