Paramount releases first trailer for SONIC THE HEDGEHOG

Today Paramount Pictures finally lifted the lid of its live action Sonic The Hedgehog movie. The first full trailer shows off Ben Schwartz’s vocal talents in the lead role and features new footage of Jim Carrey and James Marsden in action,

Whilst we admit the design of the character is going to take some getting used to there’s still some charm in the trailer. Does anybody else think Dr. Robotnik looks a bit like a throwback to the Street Fighter movie?

The studio has also released the first poster for the movie:

The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

Sonic the Hedgehog stars Ben Schwartz as Sonic and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, with James Marsden, Neal McDonald, Tika Sumpter, Adam Pally and Natasha Rothwell.

Game of Thrones (HBO)

GAME OF THRONES actor discusses their demise at the Battle of Winterfell

One of the standout characters over the past three seasons of Game of Thrones has easily been Lyanna Mormont, portrayed by Bella Ramsey. This week the character finally went toe-to-toe with the army of the undead at the Battle of Winterfell.

Needless to say there are spoilers ahead!

Mormont met her fate at the hands of an undead giant who, tragically, crushed little Lyanna to death. But she didn’t go easily as she stabbed the giant in the eye with a dragon glass dagger before succumbing to her injuries.

Ramsey has been talking about filming those finale scenes in a new interview with Variety. First up she discussed just how those scenes were shot.

“I was in a big claw machine, it was like a robot, it was programmed to do certain moves, to shake me about and simulate being lifted up by a giant, so that was intense,” she says. “I was very high, maybe 20 foot up in the air, and I had the dragon glass in my hand and the eye of the giant was actually a green polystyrene ball.”

It seems the episodes director, Miguel Sapochnik, all had some sage advice for her just before they shot the giant scene.

“He said someone removed Lyanna’s fear gene, so fear isn’t part of her vocabulary, isn’t one of the emotions that she feels. We really talked about that and how she would react to the giant and what’s going on in her face and in her mind. It was sheer determination and courage that she wasn’t intimidated by this giant, this was just another object to face in the battle,” she says.

The full interview is available here.

Game of Thrones stars Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams. The series airs on HBO in North America and Sky Atlantic here in the UK.
