Breaking news from camp ‘Arrow’ this evening. Katie Cassidy will be returning to the show as a regular character in season 6! There’s a catch though, she will be returning as her Earth-2 counterpart Black Siren.
Fans of the show will know that Cassidy returned for the first episode after the mid-season break raising hopes that Earth-1 Laurel had been resurrected. That episode ended with Black Siren shipped back to her cell in Central City at Star Labs.
Tonights announcement confirms that Cassidy will return for the final two episodes of ‘Arrow’ season 5 before picking up her series regular status in season 6. ‘Arrow’ executive producer Marc Guggenheim has released the following statement:
One of the things that most excites us about ARROW is that we go where the story takes us. Last year, the story took us to the tragic death of Laurel Lance. This year, our midseason finale reintroduced us to Laurels doppelganger, Black Siren. We were so taken by Katie is fearless interpretation of this character that we knew her story was not yet finished. We could not be more thrilled to welcome Katie back to Arrow as Black Siren, though as her appearances on ARROW and DCs LEGENDS OF TOMORROW this season show, she never really left the family.
‘Arrow’ has also picked up a new Black Canary this season in the form of Dinah Drake. Is there room for two Canary’s in Star City? Will Cassidy return as a hero or villain? We’ll have to wait and see.
‘Arrow’ airs Wednesdays on The CW in the US and Thursdays on Sky One in the UK.
