It looks like Ben Affleck has just gone and broken the internet! Earlier today the star cryptically tweeted a short video containing what appears to be test footage featuring the famous DC Comics villain Deathstroke.
A short while after Affleck tweeted the video went viral with 49.3k tweets and counting. The Wrap posted an article with more information. Their article quotes an insider as stating that Deathstroke is the planned villain for the solo Batman movie. The film, to be written, directed and starring Ben Affleck is currently without a release schedule. It is expected to take one of the two empty slots in the current DCEU slate.
The video does appear to show Deathstroke on the set of Batman’s new travelling base of operations from ‘Justice League’. However there’s nothing to stop Affleck doing test footage for his film whilst working on ‘Justice League’. Either way this has us really excited to see what he’s cooking up!
Deathstroke was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. He is a mercenary and assassin who first appeared in ‘The New Teen Titans’ #2 back in 1980. He has also played roles in most of Rocksteady’s ‘Arkham’ computer game series. The character also played a major role in the animated series ‘Teen Titans’.
TV fans know the character best from his appearances in The CW’s ‘Arrow’ where he was played by Manu Bennett. Deahstroke plagued the titular hero during the shows second season before making a short guest appearance in season 3.
When asked during a recent AMA show runner Marc Guggenheim was asked about the characters potential return to the series. His response?
“The character of Slade Wilson is currently tied up in another DC project.”
No official word yet on who is wearing the costume in the video but we’ll bring you the news when we have it! Checkout the video in the player below!
