We’ve been waiting for this piece of news since Godzilla vs Kong dropped. According to THR, Adam Wingard is in early talks to helm another MonsterVerse movie. After a disappointing performance from King of the Monsters, many deemed that Godzilla vs Kong would be the end of the MonsterVerse. Then… something wonderful happened.
Godzilla vs Kong was an absolute hit with fans and critics alike. On top of that, it became the top-grossing movie released since the pandemic started earning over $400 million at the global box office. What’s funny about this is that the film is yet to open in many large markets such as the UK, Brazil and Japan. So maybe this isn’t goodbye.
According to the report, Legendary are taking steps to enhance their franchise with a few more installments with Adam Wingard set to helm the next movie. That’s all that we know really. The director is said to have been deeply involved in creating set-pieces for Godzilla vs Kong as well as building the Hollow Earth. With Wingard and Legendary looking to expand the Hollow Earth, a rumored title has already begun to circulate online… Son of Kong.
