Following news last night that James Gunn is in the frame to write and direct Suicide Squad 2 Dave Bautista has thrown his hat in the ring to get a role. Bautista is most famous to comic book fans for the role of Drax in both Guardians of the Galaxy movies as well as this years Avengers: Infinity War.
When Disney took the decision to fire Gunn following his controversial tweets Bautista was very vocal about his feelings towards the studio. The actor went as far as to say he would like to be released from his contract if Gunn was not reinstated.

In other news David Ayer, director of the original Suicide Squad, has given Gunn his blessing. In a tweet late last night Ayer said “I think it’s an incredibly brave and smart move by the studio.”
