A couple of days ago we brought you the news that S. J. Clarkson has signed on to direct the Game of Thrones spin-off pilot. What we didn’t report was the impact that might have on the long gestating Star Trek 4.
Our last update on the fourth movie in the Kelvin timeline pointed to financial issues for the picture. It was reported in August that Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth had stepped away from the production due to salary negotiation issues.
Now with Clarkson signed on for that Game of Thrones series pilot it’s being reported that Paramount Pictures has shelved plans for Star Trek 4.
According to Deadline Clarkson only became available to helm the pilot due to the shelving of the Trek project by the studio. Though neither party has at this stage confirmed the news.
Take these rumours with a pinch of salt but we’ll keep you updated…
