Deathstroke Inc #9 is published by DC Comics, written by Joshua Williamson and illustrated by Paolo Pantalena.

Issue #9 is available 24th May 2022 either directly from DC Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

A tragic death sends the Shadow War into overdrive, and Batman and Robin must solve the mystery before more blood is shed! Meanwhile, Deathstroke regroups with the Secret Society to plan an attack on Talia and the League of Shadows. If Talia wanted a war, she’s going to get a war!

    Review

In this issue the Shadow War arc takes an emotional and dramatic turn as Deathstroke’s heart gets crushed by an untimely death (no spoilers) giving Deathstroke the additional charge he needs to drive forward with an attack on Talia and her League of Shadows, the League of Shadows have regrouped and are ready for a fight but are they ready for the onslaught that is about to hit them. As the two super groups collide old rivalries are revived in an explosive collision of super powers that runs with deep emotion.

For me Joshua Williamson is probably one of my favourite writers certainly within the DC world, the storied he writes aren’t just straight forward action comics they are more multidimensional with underlying emotion and raw feeling, the Shadow War arc is definitely one of the best story arcs in comics right now and I hope it continues to gather pace.

The illustrations from Paolo Pantalena are exactly what you would expect from a DC Comic, dark but with lots of raw detail and bold colours that intensify the written story.

    Verdict

An explosive issue which is easily my favourite of The Shadow War event. A story of epic magnitude which is clearly gearing towards an explosive ending.

This issue is definitely the most explosive and probably the one I have enjoyed the most out of the Shadow War arc. The story has grown to become so much more than just a comic this is a story of epic magnitude that is gearing towards an explosive intense ending.
