Review
Fans of intense space adventure stop what you are doing and pick this up, a new story arc from the creative minds of Scout Comics brings a space adventure like no other.
The story tells of a colony living in the Arcadia Plains on Mars, a colony of ice miners looking to survive and thrive on Mars. The story tells of the struggles of survival and the toll it takes, we follow Hellener as he struggles with ghosts from his past leaving afraid to face the future. As the story developes we see the heartbreaking reality of the depth of Hellener’s personal issues.
HS Tak tells a great story of controlling your inner demons and past mistakes and what you need to do to rectify them, a story of action but also of deep meaning.
The illustrations are well done McKee grabs the true feeling of what it would feel like on Mars and it comes across well, it enables the reader to engage their imagination and feel like they are living the story. The dramatic colour choices of reds and oranges really work well with the overall Mars theme and adds depth to the story partner that up with dramatic tones and you’ve got yourself a really good looking book.
Verdict
As my introduction to Scout Comics as a publisher I was very impressed with the issue, the story offered depth and was thought provoking. Overall an impressive first issue and look forward to seeing more from this arc.
