Exciting news for fans of the X-Men franchise over the weekend as 20th Century Fox announced their 2018 movie slate.
We’ve known for some time that director Josh Boone has been working on a New Mutants film. There are also the well publicised problems that Deadpool 2 has had with keeping its directors chair filled.
The anomaly has been what would happen next to the main X-Men brand following the middling success of X-Men: Apocalypse. It’s been long rumoured that Simon Kinberg would take a stab at righting the wrongs of X-Men: The Last Stand by taking another shot at adapting ‘The Dark Phoenix Saga’ from the comics. Backed up by the rumours surrounding a film titled X-Men: Supernova going in to production this year.
Now we know that film is in fact called X-Men: Dark Phoenix and that it will be released on November 2nd 2018! 20th Century Fox has updated its 2018 film slate confirming that not one, not two but THREE X-Men films will be released next year.
Beginning with New Mutants which will debut on April 13th, 2018, followed by the highly-anticipated Deadpool 2 on June 1st, 2018, and finally X-Men: Dark Phoenix on November 2nd, 2018.
No word yet on who will be directing X-Men: Dark Phoenix with rumours poinitng to Bryan Singer stepping down from the directors chair once again.
Which film are you looking forward to most? Let us known in the comments.
