In a new interview with Gamespot Gary Dauberman (Annabelle Comes Home) has been discussing his plans for future seasons of Swamp Thing.
Dauberman also touched on the cancellation of the series describing it as “a bit of a gut punch”.
“I was looking forward to telling a couple more self-contained stories,” he said. “Not self-contained itself, but like three arc stories too, coupled within the larger [mysteries.] Like a season-long mystery or engine, but also be able to explore some of those dark corners of the swamp… where it almost feels like a little bit like an anthology.”
Dauberman also revealed that while he didn’t want to ditch the “Monster of the Week” format, he wish to include other creatures in future seasons, such as wolverines and vampires. “We could have done so much that I’m said we’re not going to be able to get to do in this incarnation, you know?”
When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Marais, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.
