The latest news of a big title release date move leaked today with the announcement that the highly anticipated release from Universal/MGM Candyman has been moved from the scheduled 16th October release to an unset date in 2021. This announcement comes in the wake of the announcement of Warner Bros epic sequel Wonder Woman 1984 has been rescheduled to a Christmas Day release.
With the current worldwide pandemic giving no signs of going away any time soon and with cinemas in New York and Los Angeles many of the big studio partners are left assessing new dates for their big name releases looking at one of the biggest name releases of the moment Tenet with 11 day opening figures of just $20.2 million dollars leaving the studios thinking that perhaps right now isn’t the best time to release marque titles, but with some theaters opening their doors there will need to be something for people to watch so the best idea seems to be to space out titles and unfortunately this will mean delays in releases.
