Daniel Craig has made no secret of the fact that he is ready to move on from the role of James Bond. The upcoming No Time To Die is absolutely his last time taking on the role of 007 and so producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson now begin the search for their next lead.
In a recent interview with Variety the pair discussed the long rumoured idea that the next Bond should be played by a female actor.
“He can be of any color, but he is male,” Broccoli explained. “I believe we should be creating new characters for women – strong female characters. I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that.”
Though the producers aren’t looking for a female actor, the door is always open for a person of any ethnicity to take on the role. “You think of him as being from Britain or the Commonwealth, but Britain is a very diverse place.” said Wilson.
