Is Batman a metahuman? Not according to Scott Snyder…

SPOILER ALERT: for anyone who hasn’t caught up to date with this weeks comics!

In this weeks Suicide Squad #22 Amanda Waller dropped the bombshell that – she believes – Batman to be a metahuman.  She made the revelation as she sent Harley Quinn and members of her quad after The Dark Knight and Killer Frost.

Suicide Squad #22
Of course this new revelation sent shockwaves through DC Comics fandom and fans soon turned to Batman oracle Scott Snyder for answer. He tweeted this response to fan questions:

Suicide Squad writer Rob Williams weighed in on the argument himself on Twitter contradicting his own words in the issue:

It’s hard to ignore the word ‘metahuman’ in that dialogue box. What could Williams have meant by this revelation? How do you feel about Batman being classed as a metahuman?

The Defenders

Charlie Cox talks Daredevil in ‘The Defenders’

When we last saw Daredevil at the end of season 2 he was not in a good place. His partnership with Foggy Nelson appeared to be over, he had revealed his secret identity to love interest Karen Page, his other love interest – Elektra – was dead and Wilson Fisk had sweated revenge on the blind hero.

Actor Charlie Cox spoke to the press at SDCC – via CinemaBlend – about where we find the hero in The Defenders when it hits Netflix in August.

“At the end of Daredevil Season 2, everyone failed. Matt failed, and the consequences were devastating. Six or so months have passed, and he’s had to completely reevaluate everything that he believes, everything that he does. And he’s decided to hang up the suit, as it were. He’s focusing all of his energies on being a pro bono lawyer. And I don’t think he has any interest, really, in being Daredevil anymore.”

What will it take to make Murdock put the suit on again? We’ll find out soon enough!

‘Wonder Woman 2’ gets a 2019 release date

During SDCC last weekend it was finally confirmed that Wonder Woman 2 is officially happening. Though Patty Jenkins is yet to confirm her return we do at least have some news on when fans will be able to see Gal Gadot back on the big screen in a solo outing.

Warner Bros. has revealed that Wonder Woman 2 will be hitting screens December 13th, 2019.

Should the film stick to this date it means that DC FIlms will be releasing four films that year. 2019 will also see the release of Shazam on April 5th and will be followed by two untitled films on June 14th and November 1st.

Legends of Tomorrow

SDCC 2017: ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ sizzle reel

In the last of the sizzle reels from The CW we have DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. After a shaky start in the first season the series really came together in its second. Ending on the bombshell that the Legends actions have entirely screwed the timeline this trailer picks up with the realisation that the team has a huge amount of work to do to fix things.

There’s plenty of new action to see. Plenty of zany plot twist and the tease that a big new villain is on the horizon. It looks like season 3 of Legends of Tomorrow will continue to play out like a Hanna-Barbera Superfriends cartoon!

SDCC 2017: ‘Supergirl’ sizzle reel

The Girl of Steel – Supergirl – also made a return to SDCC last night with a trailer for her third season. We left Kara Danvers in season 2 after making the difficult to release a toxin in to the air making Earth inhabitable to Daxamites. Suffering the loss of boyfriend Mon-El seems to have left Kara feeling a little dark.

The new trailer has quite a bit of new footage showing the consequences of her decision in the season 2 finale. We also get our first look at Smallville actress Erica Durance taking over the role of Alura Zor-El.

SDCC 2017: ‘The Flash’ sizzle reel

Next up from DCTV is the sizzle reel for The Flash season 4. Following events at the end of season 3 Barry Allen is trapped in the Speed Force and his friends are left behind in Central City to pick up the pieces. The trailer follows Iris West who is trying to continue a normal life whilst keeping Team Flash together.

It seems like Barry may not be gone for long as a whole host of villains have descended on the city as Cisco/Vibe and Kid Flash try to keep things together.

Arrow

SDCC 2017: ‘Arrow’ sizzle reel

Warner Bros. and The CW has begun releasing their SDCC sizzle reels for all our favourite DCTV series. First up we’ve got a first look at Arrow season 6. Following the explosive events of the season 5 finale fans are still in the dark as to who survived the death of the island.

Since the season 5 finale aired we’ve gotten a look at Dinah Drake’s new Black Canary costume, confirmation that Katie Cassidy is returning as a series regular and the news that Oliver would play more of a father figure to William this season. Much to fans excitement star Stephen Amell also confirmed that Slade Wilson will be more of a regular presence moving forwards.

So it is no surprise to say that those are the only characters to appear in new footage in this trailer. Much of it focusses on the end of season 5 but there is still some great new action to check out.

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the South China Sea. Oliver returned home to Starling City, bent on righting the wrongs of his family and fighting injustice. To do this, he created the persona of The Arrow and allied himself with former military man John Diggle, computer-science expert Felicity Smoak, lawyer-turned-vigilante Laurel Lance, billionaire inventor Ray Palmer, and his sister Thea Queen.

After years of denying himself his own life as Oliver Queen in order to be The Arrow, Oliver left Starling City with Felicity and made a home in suburbia. But their newly tranquil lives are upended when an evil new organization, H.I.V.E., takes over the newly-christened Star City. Oliver is forced to don the hood once more but can he keep his aim as The Arrow without losing the life he has fought so hard to get back?
